Update: 17-Year-Old Boy ID'D as Swimmer Found Dead After Vanishing in Cannon River Near Cannon Falls 

Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News)- A search for a missing swimmer had a tragic ending in southeast Minnesota on Friday.

A news release issued by the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a male party in the Cannon River. 

The call came near Cannon Falls shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Swimmer Reported Missing After Going Underwater in Cannon River, Search Initiated

Upon arrival, authorities learned three men were swimming in the river when one of the men went under. The two others went after him.

Authorities say the man resurfaced twice and did not resurface again.

Multiple public safety agencies responded to the scene and initiated a search, the news release indicates. 

Family Informed of Body Recovery

Shortly before 7 p.m., authorities informed the swimmer’s family that his body had been recovered. 

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s name, the news release says.
