Elgin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Mayo One helicopter was dispatched to a crash involving severe injuries Wabasha County on Monday.

Information released by the State Patrol indicates two vehicles were involved in the incident. The collision happened around 2:10 p.m.

SUVs Collide at Intersection of Hwy. 247 and County Rd. 2 West of Plainview, Mayo One Helicopter Responds

 A Subaru SUV and Ford SUV collided at the intersection of Hwy. 247 and County Rd. 2 about four miles west of Plainview. 

The Subaru was heading south on County Rd. 2 and the Ford was westbound on Hwy. 247 when the vehicles collided in the intersection, the state crash report says. 

78-year-old Nikki Rose Werner of Pepin was driving the Subaru. 82-year-old Marie Alexandria Hangsleben was riding with her. The State Patrol says both women suffered life-threatening injuries. 

The Ford was driven by an 89-year-old Paul Bernard Dicke of Goodhue. He and his passenger, identified as 88-year-old Janice Fay Diercks of Goodhue were transported to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The updated state crash report says alcohol was not involved and that all four occupants were buckled up. 

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, the Plainview Police Department and Elgin Fire and Ambulance also responded to the two-vehicle collision.
