28-Year-Old Charged by Warrant for Minnesota Crash That Claimed Lives of Man and Woman
Hanska, MN (MinnesotaNow)- An arrest warrant has been issued for a southern Minnesota woman who was involved in a fatal crash last weekend.

Two people were killed around 12:15 Saturday morning in a collision involving a pickup and passenger car.
The deadly crash occurred near the intersection of two county roads approximately three miles north of Hanska and about seven miles south of New Ulm. The victims of the fatal crash were in the passenger car.
On Monday the Brown County Sheriff’s Office identified the occupants of the car as 73-year-old Paul Rewitzer and 74-year-old Paulette Rewitzer.
Both the Hanska residents were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities say. Paul was driving the car.

28-year-old Shianne Lee Escobar of Hanska was identified as the driver of the pickup.
The warrant says a responding deputy saw her outside of the victim’s vehicle. She was walking around and complained of shoulder pain.
Escobar told law enforcement she was at a bar in New Ulm prior to the collision and responded it was a question for her lawyer when she was asked how much she had to drink, the charges say.
The complaint also said Escobar was unaware of the time and did not know how long it had been since her last drink.
Deadly Crash Suspect Transported to Hospital, EMS Detects "Overwhelming Odor of Alcohol"
Escobar began complaining of neck, chest and spine pain and became unresponsive as EMS arrived at the scene. The Hanska woman was eventually transported to a nearby hospital.
The deputy who spoke with Escobar noted she had slurred speech and an ambulance crew member who transported alcohol indicated she had an “overwhelming odor of alcohol,” the warrant says.
A witness who saw Escobar at the bar described her as “heavily intoxicated,” before she left, the court document states.

Law enforcement obtained a search warrant and drew two samples of Escobar’s blood.
Escobar is charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. She was not in custody as of Monday night.
